Tom Speight just seems to soar.
The songwriter's lilting folk-pop has an infectious air of maturity about it, with his work quickly racking up an astonishing 10 million streams.
It's quite a feat, but then that shouldn't be too unexpected – as an artist, Tom yearns towards the universal, towards a broader viewpoint.
New single 'The River' drops on Friday (June 2nd), and it's drawn from the upcoming EP 'My My My'. He explains: "I've always wanted to record 'The River' with Chris Bond. I knew that he would capture the mood of the song and layered atmospheric texture of it. The production uses a similar palette as 'Willow Tree' with it's strings, female vocals and double bass. I've got fond memories of recording this track because we would always work on it at night because of its chilled nature."
"I was lucky enough to have Allie Moss feature on guest vocals, she has such a beautiful tone to her voice. I remember the first time I heard her on the BT TV advert I Shazam’d the song and messaged her on Twitter, asking if she would be up for singing on one of my tracks, thankfully she said 'yes'."
Soft, honeyed tones set against a mature arrangement, you can check out 'The River' below.
