Premiere: Tired Arms – ‘Polar Shift’

Partnering Tradiio...

London electronic duo Tired Arms released their debut EP in 2012, a colourful yet subtle introduction.

Since then, the pair have won admiring glances from BBC Introducing to this here website, with their fragrant production matching a melodic sense to a driving futurism.

Shifting in a new direction, Tired Arms are now ready to unveil fresh track 'Polar Shift' through Clash. “We've found ourselves reaching for hardware synths as a means of approaching melodic parts a lot more recently” elaborates Evan Gildersleeve. “They've certainly played an important role in the past but have generally served as more of a subtlety and a means of reinforcing acoustic elements. 'Polar Shift' is a little different in that we've pulled the synths into the foreground and structured the track around them. The vast majority of our percussion is still organic but the music feels more electronic overall”.

Lawrence King explains: “We hadn't written music with the intention of performing live before, so there's a real mixture of styles on the last EP. Through developing our live show, we soon realised the danceable tracks were the most fun to play so felt compelled to write music that's somewhat more upbeat. Having grown up playing traditional instruments, it's important to us that there's a healthy balance between playable parts and live manipulation”.

Released in collaboration with new web platform Tradiio, you can check out 'Polar Shift' below.

'Polar Shift' will be released on September 25th.
