Strong Asian Mothers have always operated with open minds.
The band's songwriting leaves plenty of space, with the trio absorbing a vast array of influences to make their colourful alt-pop sound.
A new remix EP focusses on their single 'Hard To Find', and it invites re-workings from KHUSHI, Temptress, Adam Halogen, and Peter Lyons.
We're able to premiere Peter Lyons re-work, an electro-funk workout with lashings of fluoro-soaked melodies and a thumping, kicking rhythm.
But that's not all; Strong Asian Mothers decided to film a full video for the remix, influenced by French new wave cinema.
We'll let them pick up the story…
"Peter Lyons rubbed a large dose of funk all over 'Hard To Find' that took our breath away. Peter serendipitously timed the completion of his 'Hard To Find' remix with Amar's decision to shave off his massive, ridiculous beard before he went on holiday. Not wanting to waste the opportunity to document the stripping of his chin and with the perfect soundtrack, Amar decided to make a Nouvelle Vague (French New Wave) film about a beardless man who has a love affair with some scissors and reattaches a beard to his face."
"The whole thing was inspired by Serge Gainsbourg's video for Ye Ye and the work of Jean Luc-Godard. He also only happened to be free to film it on the day London had a big snow storm… so it looks extra moody by accident. He also forced his girlfriend to film it on his iPhone whilst they were hungover, so it better win an Oscar.”
