Smooth Ends know that one of the most damaging things you can say to someone is 'be a man'.
It's a phrase that feels so suffocating, as if anyone could ever define masculinity by simply putting up, shutting up, and getting on with it.
So they did what they also do – they flipped it upside down and wrote a sparkling, subversive piece of danceable pop around it.
They explain: “We thought it would be amusing to approach a subject like masculinity with a dance-pop track using pretty chords and high pitched voices. In the end, we think it's more about being yourself than being ‘a man’ or anything else that the rest of the world tells you to be.”
Airing on Clash, it's a wry, amusing, indulgent piece of pop that will make you shimmy.
