Certain songs simply resonate with you.
A sterling songwriter, Raphaella has long been a fan of The Clash, infatuated with their aesthetic about-turns, their righteous politicking.
Heading back into the studio recently, the newcomer decided to lay down a homage to the group, recording a version of one of her favourite tracks.
'I'm Not Down' was part of the group's seminal 'London Calling' album, and here Raphaella places her own unique stamp on an iconic recording.
It's a slow-burning take on the original, placing the singer's mellifluous vocal front and centre, while the arrangement billows around her.
She explains: "I fell in love with The Clash and the ‘London Calling’ album in my final year of University. I was pretty badly bullied for years growing up, and the lyrics so resonated with me, I felt now was a perfect time to revisit the cover. It’s always been close to my heart."
