Premiere: Rae Morris – ‘Cold’ (Jack Steadman Remix)

Fun, uplifting house remix...

Rae Morris is many things.

A gifted songwriting, a wonderful piano player and a fun, easy going performer. But house diva? Perhaps not.

Well, that's about to change. New single 'Cold' is due to be released on July 14th, with Fryars assisting during the songwriting process. As Rae Morris explains:

"Ben (Fryars) and I originally got together to write something as a bit of fun for something like Record Store Day or a Deluxe, extra track. We were at Ben's home studio listening to Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood's classic duets. There's something so uncomplicated and refreshingly simple about the form of a duet and the way two musicians come together to tell a tale. 'Cold' is a distant conversation between two feuding, fading lovers."

The original is perhaps Rae Morris' most focussed pop effort to date, with the clinical electronic production underlying the lyrics, which detail the sad demise of a relationship.

Bombay Bicycle Club's Jack Steadman has stepped in on remix duties, pushing the track in a more up front house direction. Retaining the pop edge of Morris' vocal, the producer teases out a dynamic, euphoric edge.
