Dark, synthetic pop music, Pentatones formed in 2010 and have quickly found a cult following on the continent.
A German proposition, the production – crisp, noir, bordering at times on minimal – is matched to the soulful voice of Delia de France. Recent cut ‘Karma Game’ is a superb distillation of their charms, matching propulsive percussion to a melancholic pop touch.
Fellow German artist Steve Bug has stepped in on remix duties. Pushing ‘Karma Game’ in a more techno-driven direction, the production is submerged in dank synths and crystalline flourishes.
