Nieves are slowly, steadily building a profile for themselves.
The Scottish group spent 2015 working relentlessly, playing headline shows and festival dates before releasing their 'Matriarch' EP.
Closing the year by selling out King Tuts in their native Glasgow, Nieves are doing everything right.
New single 'Broken Oars' certainly won't hinder their cause. Indie rock with plenty of bite, the deliriously infectious chorus makes way to verses that rejoice in lyrical word play but hint at a greater darkness.
Nieves explain: "'Broken Oars' is written in two halves. Set in a small fishing village, the first section of the song looks at a young girls' relationship with her father, who she idolises. The second half focuses on her husband 30 years later trying desperately to keep his family together after the death of this important figure in his wife's life. The song explores relationships, mental health and the struggles facing the average family."
