Premiere: Newmoon – ‘Head Of Stone’

Belgian shoegaze band with a real intensity...

Newmoon started off live immersed in the hardcore scene, before gradually allowing their tempos to drop.

But as the sound mellowed, the Belgian group found new ways to harness that initial intensity. The result is a uniquely crunching take on shoegaze, with lush textures allied to grinding tempos and almost industrial swathes of noise.

The band will release a new album in October (pre-order LINK), but recently sparked a flurry of hype with some well received shows alongside Touché Amore, Nothing, Basement, and many more.

Clash is able to premiere new cut 'Head Of Stone' and it's a wonderful introduction to their sound and approach.

Opening in a halo of noise and intensity, the track then suddenly broadens, with angelic vocals sitting atop swathes of lush guitar. Reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine, A Place To Bury Strangers, or even former tour partners Nothing, Newmoon confidently stamp out a territory all of their own.
