Glasgow's famous fertile music scene needs a few hubs, a few focal points to retain its energy.
Bar Bloc is a renowned local venue, able to provide a launching pad for new acts who might be shunned elsewhere. Alongside this, the venue's Bloc+Music label has gathered some of the finest fresh talent from Glasgow, its environs and beyond.
Now onto its second volume, the compilation series act as a wonderful cross section of all that's good about Scottish guitar music.
Released via their BandCamp page, 'Bloc Ensemble vol. 2 Part 5' is a typically diverse collection. Rock slayers United Fruit donate a track, while the literate, oddball pop of Poor Things also makes its way on there.
Elsewhere, Dundee's Fat Goth are represented while Garden Of Elks open the whole affair with the incomparable 'Yoop'.
