There's a tendency in the West to view Russia as an ogre, as a cartoon villain.
The reality, though, is that Russia is simply enormous in both size and scale – it's impossible to whittle the country down to any one stereotype. Russian youth culture is fresh, vivid, with a huge underground rock scene helping give a voice to those often shunted to the sidelines.
Mumiy Troll are one of Russia's biggest bands, capable of filling arenas and headlining festivals in their homeland. Arranging a very rare series of continental shows, Mumiy are also set to play the UK.
