Premiere: Mr Mitch – ‘Dru (Peace Edit)’

Make peace (edits) not war...

In September of 2013, multiple shots were fired. The whole grime scene came to blows as producers sent for other producers via #wardubs. Shedloads of brand new bangers were dropped, brilliantly, at the rate of gunfire.

In stepped Mr Mitch to calm things down – by releasing Vol. 1 of his 'Peace Dubs', which rehashed Wiley, Plastician and Spooky into weightless, melody-centric edits of club smashers. While all were reworked by the man himself in 2013, Mitch is now taking the genre into '15 by releasing 'Peace Edits' – which sees other producers having a go – namely, Strict Face, Loom and Silk Road Assassins.

The first track of the EP sees the Gobstopper head himself reinterpreting Dru Hill's 'How Deep Is Your Love', which loops a vocal round a hypnotic, drum-less backdrop.

Listen to it right here, right now:

Gobstopper Records drop 'Peace Edits' – their first physical release on the label – on the February 23rd.
