By the time MAGS hit her teens she'd already seen more than most people should see in a lifetime.
Brought up in Sierra Leone, her family were forced to flee when she was just six years old. Coming of age in a London environment both thrilling and hostile, she was surrounded by all manner of influences.
Somehow, she kept it together. Pouring her feelings into music, MAGS was told she had a strong, emotive singing voice: "My music teacher was teaching me how to play the guitar and asked me to sing along with him (he was always singing) and after finally giving in and bashfully singing along, he told me that I needed to sing. That’s how it all started really."
Now aged 24, MAGS feels she has something to share with the world. New cut 'Roots' is airing first on Clash, and it's raw but powerful.
Soulful, the track leans on all manner of influences to create something which is extremely difficult to pin down. Try it and see.
