At times, you're almost listening to silence.

Austin trio Love Inks specialise in a near unique type of minimal noir. Recalling the likes of The xx at their most basic, or even Rough Trade legends Young Marble Giants, the band's output – just one studio album to date – is precocious, enticing.

Seeming to dwell in shadow, there's a darkness to their sound which the vocals – simple, at times child like – perhaps never explicitly convey.

But it's there in the lyrics. New album 'Exi' drops on September 8th, with new cut 'Shoot 100 Panes Of Glass' arriving in our possession a few moments ago.

The fragile arrangement wraps itself around a motorik inspired groove, with the lyrics delving into a painful break up. It's oddly anthemic, too – but imagine a crowd singing "give me a break, give me your lungs hollowed out…"
