Premiere: KOYO – ‘Jettisoned’

Nathan Erasmus directs this new animated clip...

Leeds band KOYO match early 70s prog tendencies to a very 21st century take on psychedelia.

Imagine pre-'Dark Side…' Floyd jamming on an ashram with Tame Impala and you'd be close, with last year's debut album displaying some mind-melting scenes.

Just completing their second headline tour, KOYO have handed album highlight 'Jettisoned' to director Nathan Erasmus.

The results are an animated extra-terrestrial journey, with a retro-futurist feel and stunning imagination. Nathan explains…

"The band have their own unique experimental sound and the album took me on an unpredictable journey, one I haven't been on since listening to Radiohead's 'In Rainbows' for the first time. The conceptual design of the album's artwork by Archie Edwards lends itself well to animation and the visuals in the Jettisoned video are strongly inspired by retro sci-fi posters and book covers, something Archie and myself are both big fans of. Sci-fi often explores metaphors and this is what I've done in exploring the theme of Jettisoning."
