It's not often that members of Iggy & The Stooges and The Cruel Sea collaborate, but that's exactly what Kinbom & Kessner have achieved.
New track 'Only The Living Can Love' features a recitation from proto-punk guitarist James Williamson, alongside harmonium from the late Australian musician James Cruickshank.
It's a moving, poetic work, seemingly inspired by one of the darker, morally challenging episodes from the D-Day landings. Fredrik Kinbom of Kinbom & Kessner explains:
"The idea for the song originated when I was on tour in Spain with Gemma Ray and Ned Collette earlier this year. Instead of listening to music in the van, we had this 19-hour audio book about the D-Day landings, by Antony Beevor. This period in history has been an interest of mine for a long time, and it's not often I hear something I didn't know about already, but these reports about French women who were firing on the allied troops was new to me, and caught my ear and imagination."
