Premiere: Jozef Van Wissem – ‘Detachment’

Minimalist composer returns...

Dutch composer Jozef Van Wissem crafts minimalist music, primarily on the lute.

Now, that might not seem like the perfect mainstream formula, but the left field artist has found an audience, releasing material on ATP Recordings and Sacred Bones.

New album 'When Shall This Bright Day Begin' arrives on March 18th, with Clash able to premiere new cut 'Detachment'.

It's gently engrossing, a slow-burning yet fascinating piece of music. Jozef explains: "The meaning of detachment is up to the imagination of the listener as i am still trying to figure out what it means myself. However, in a contemporary setting these words could address suicide, immigration or just simply leaving your lover. Like finally doing what you really want to. Or like a detachment of the soul to worldly matters. You know, voluntary departure."
