Joey Sprinkles is a fresh alter ego from a songwriter you may well be familiar with.
Real name Joe Boyer, the American musician previously worked with Columbus punk band Chomp, and also grafted alongside Cloud Nothings.
In contrast to those hard-edged manoeuvres, though, Joey Sprinkles is a melodic affair, recalling those late 70s power pop cuts but in a defiantly 21st century context.
New cut 'Where Did I Go' is a wonderfully succinct, engrossingly bittersweet affair. Co-directors Steven Wilson and Ken Wendt took charge of the video, which makes cute animation to some very serious themes.
Joe Boyer explains: "The idea of the video came from the main idea of the song, wondering how and why I've wound up where I have on a personal and material level. I thought the best representation would be the ultimate unknown, space. I also believe that we create our own isolation, thus the hand drawn space shuttle backgrounds and hands on approach to all of the background animation".
