Premiere: Jo Mango – ‘Evermore’ (The Cormorant Remix)

Folk artist is re-cast as electronic maiden...

Space is the place.

Jo Mango may well make folk music, but it's folk music with a near unique sparsity. Each note has room to breathe, to wander around and do its own thing.

Produced by Adem Ilhan, recent album 'Murmuration' was blessed with quite impeccable charm. Now long term home Olive Grove Records have confirmed plans for – of all things – a remix album.

As unlikely as it seems, the results are beautifully cohesive. Guest producers include Adem, Erland Oye and many more, each re-casting Jo Mango's work in their own light.

Due to be given a limited cassette run in time for Cassette Store Day (September 27th), 'Transmurmuration' will be available generally from October 13th.

'Evermore' is a gentle, poetic, pastoral ode, with Mango's voice set against the most delicate of arrangements. The Cormorant steps in to remix the track, seeming to submerge the vocals and use the sparse structure to flood the track with glitchy electronics.
