Premiere: James Edge And The Mindstep – ‘Four Two Four’

Wonderfully inventive, folk-hewn songwriting...

James Edge has always been fascinated by music, by the sounds that instruments make.

Studying music to Masters level, the aspiring songwriter then swapped academia for London gig life.

James Edge and the Mindstep was born. Pouring his ideas, emotions into the project, the songs quickly expanded, spilling over established borders, fusing jazz with folk, rock with electronics.

New album 'Machines He Made' is forthcoming, with Clash able to premiere ambitious lead track 'Four Two Four'.

Recorded at Tom Aitkenhead’s Milk Studios in Limehouse, there's a real freshness to both the songwriting and arrangement – partly folk, partly Americana, the bright, breezy rhythms bely a certain darkness in the vocal.

Tune in now.
