Premiere: His Clancyness – ‘Isolation Culture’

Forthcoming on Hand Drawn Dracula...

His Clancyness are kinda difficult to define.

Hell, even the geography is difficult – the band owe their roots to Bologna and Ottawa, a trans-Atlantic conversation between the Italian and Canadian underground.

The band's Fat Cat-supported debut was a real charmer, an oddly beguiling affair that deftly avoided any box you cared to put it in.

Now, after a three year gap, His Clancyness is back. The band's second album drops on October 14th, with production handled jointly by MJ at Suburban Home Studio, Leeds, and Stu Matthews at Portishead's Invada Studios.

Clash is able to share 'Isolation Culture' and, in true His Clancyness style, it's a difficult beast to nail down. The woozy, cassette-tape feel in the production nods towards the DIY scene, but the chugging bass and nagging vocals feel more like Talking Heads.

For some reason, it's put us in mind of arch post-punk bulldozers Pere Ubu. Strange, yet persistant, you can check out 'Isolation Culture' below.
