Premiere: Heyrocco – ‘Alison’

Primordial grunge meets bubblegum pop...

Adolescence is a defining moment in many people's lives.

The eruption of internal chemistry, the astonishing burst of hormones during the teenage years is often accompanied by life-altering events: falling in love, experiencing rejection, heartache and inspiration.

Heyrocco's new album 'Teenage Movie Soundtrack' is clearly informed by this era. Bubblegum pop meets the primordial rage of grunge, there's a sense of The Cure's introversion here matched to the sludge of Mudhoney.

New single 'Alison' arrives on June 8th, but Clash has the premiere. Imagine J Mascis covering the Archies and you'd be close, with singer Jaki Merli teasing the chorus: “Oh Alison, I was only having fun…”
