Premiere: Hairy Hands – ‘Battlecat’

Intriguing producer delivers new EP...

The countryside is a place where both body and mind can wander, where the imagination can exist uninhibited.

Hairy Hands – real name James Alexander Bright – finds the need to get away from it all, to live in the country.

Now based in Hampshire, the producer is able to drift both physically and mentalling – and this feeds into his work.

"I love the wide open spaces you get in the country," he explains. "There's nothing like walking out into the middle of a dark field at night and taking in all the sounds and stars! I think this is why I have a fascination with space travel/sci -fi and otherworldly electronic/analogue sounds. It's all wrapped up in imagination. I like to get into another headspace. Almost like playing a character in a B-movie. I like to let my mind travel and explore. Visually and audibly."

New EP 'Battlecat' fuses vivid electronics to science fiction and martial arts, with the concept emerging from a twin fascination with Jeff Lynne's 'The War Of The Worlds' and RZA's movie 'The Man With The Iron Fists'.

Out on February 16th via Tape Club, Clash is able to stream the title track. Opening with bubbling synths and warm vocals, it quickly heads off piste, seemingly obeying its own whims and fancies.

Delightfully odd, you can check it out now.
