25 seconds of absolute madness...
Girl Band

Romance is a funny thing.

Each new generation seems to define love and affection in a new way, with the elements of courtship remaining in a perennial state of flux.

Dublin's Girl Band seem keenly aware of this. Handing a new cut to Clash, 'The Cha Cha Cha' seemingly uses Sam Cooke's loved up R&B classic 'Everybody Loves To Cha Cha Cha'.

Turning the song's central theme - a man attempting to woo a woman - on its head, Girl Band present something a little more in keeping with their own experiences.

Dara says: "'The Cha Cha Cha' is lyrically inspired by a Sam Cooke track (Everybody Loves To Cha Cha Cha). In that track Sam Cooke goes up to a girl and gets her to dance with him in a very smooth manner. Our track is taking the girl's point of view in a modern context were the girl is having absolutely none of that lad's effort and starts laughing at his awkward ways. A sad truth."

It's 25 seconds of feral noise. Short but extremely bracing, it focusses their visceral guitar tendencies into a quite remarkably intense document.

'The Cha Cha Cha' will be released on Record Store Day (April 19th) via Any Other City Records. Available on flexidisc, the track will be kept to a mere 100 copies.
