Irish songwriter Gemma Hayes returns to album-releasing ways next week, with her fifth studio set, ‘Bones + Longing’.
Issued through her own Chasing Dragons label, ‘Bones + Longing’ is full of the tender, emotionally honest material that’s made Hayes’ name since she broke through with 2002’s debut album ‘Night On My Side’. Produced by Gemma herself alongside David Odlum, with whom she’s enjoyed a long creative partnership, the record is preceded by a single, ‘Chasing’. Listen to it here.
Or, stay right where you are for another Clash premiere, as we’re chuffed to post the Maps remix of said single, below.
Don’t know about you, but it sounds like a really natural collaboration, doesn’t it? Almost like the words were made for that production. Which wither says that our man Maps, aka James Chapman, is some sort of remix genius – or that these two talents really should do something together, in the same place, in the near future. Because this is great. They’re connected by both having been nominated for the Mercury Prize – a conversation starter, at least.
