FEWS have always been open about their heroes, about their points of inspiration.
So when a few of those heroes come calling, it call feel, well, a little gratifying.
Deciding to record a new cover version, the track arrives online just as FEWS are added to a batch of PIXIES live show.
All in all, no bad for a day's work…
Clash is able to premiere the cover version, with FEWS re-working Gary Numan's epic 'Metal' from his 1979 album 'The Pleasure Principle'.
Taking the crunching proto-industrial epic and sluicing it full of fresh ideas, it's an intense yet still melodic workout from the group.
As bassist Jay explains; “we were spending so much time travelling and listening to music on those dates and intermittently we’d all get excited about something we’d heard. 'Metal' was that track and consequently saw Fred demo a version and having included in our live show, the reaction it got meant that we decided to record it properly.”
Tune in now.
