Premiere: Feral Ohms – ‘Super Ape’

Unhinged, ultra-heavy psych...

The ongoing psychedelic resurgence tends to focus on the more pop-oriented, whimsical side of the genre.

But there's a hefty creative spirit running through the heavier, dirtier, more rock driven side of psychedelia, too.

Feral Ohms features the talents of three absolute underground veterans: drummer Chris Johnson (Drunk Horse), bassist Josh Haynes (Nudity) and on guitar and vocals Ethan Miller (Comets On Fire and Howlin’ Rain).

Together, they make an almighty racket which recalls the dense, paranoid collapse of the counter culture. Reference points include Death, Hawkwind, Ladbroke Grove squats, bad acid and the final days of the Vietnam War.

New single 'Super Ape' half-inches its title from a Lee 'Scratch' Perry project, and shares the unhinged tendencies of the dub reggae icon.

Fast and furious, this is sheer visceral rock 'n' roll which threatens to break down the doors and smash through the walls of perception.

Out on December 1st as a limited edition piece of black wax, 'Super Ape' comes equipped with a cover of Pink Fairies classic 'The Snake'.
