Eyes Of A Blue Dog is an Anglo-Norwegian project, a group whose precise surgical incisions on pop music is resulting in some curious sounds.
Debut album 'Rise' emerged in 2012, containing material which – at times – bordered on the blissful, the ambient. Follow up 'Hamartia' drags itself out of tranquility, finding the group working in more familiar pop climes.
Which isn't to suggest that the songs are straightforward, per se. Rory Simmons comments on the new album: “It’s kind of an alt-pop, experimental cross between Massive Attack/Little Dragon and Portishead.”
Clash is able to premiere new track 'Before The Night Ends' and it's a slow burning seduction, a mellow yet seductive piece of alternative pop. Oh, and it's got Fyfe Dangerfield on it, which is always good.
