Premiere: Embers – ‘The Bitten Tongue’

An ambitious, cinematic, emphatic return...

About 18 months ago Clash caught hold of a live clip from a then-unknown Manchester group.

The band were Embers, and the song – if that vast, orchestral piece of music could be contained within such a noun – was 'Hollow Cage'.

Since then, the Manchester outfit have gently slipped back into the darkness, allowing real life to briefly take priority over music.

Now, though, they're back. Embers have recorded a slew of new material, with a host of gigs and releases planned for 2016.

As a precursor, the band are unveiling new cut 'The Bitten Tongue' and it's a desperate, pleading piece of rock music, taking the orchestral flourish of Sigor Ros and squeezing it into a dark, cramped, intense space.

A sensational return, you can listen to 'The Bitten Tongue' below.
