Premiere: Dawn Landes – Try To Make A Fire Burn Again

"People will say this is a break-up record..."

Nothings inspires quite like love.

From the first flush of meeting to the slow burn of a relationship, love has inspired some of the finest songs in the pop canon.

Sadly, though, heartbreak can often follow. Dawn Landes recently completed what she openly refers to as "a painful divorce".

"I suffered and I cried and after the crying stopped the songs started to come" she explains. "This album is the rainbow after the storm. When a relationship ends, both people walk away hurt. It just so happens that both of us wrote albums in the aftermath. I am stronger now and I can only hope that these songs might bring strength to anyone going through the kind of heartache that I did."

Pouring her pain into a new batch of songs, the Brooklyn based artist worked with producer Thomas Bartlett. Shrouding her work in soft, sparse arrangements, the results are gathered on new album 'Bluebird'.

Due for release on March 3rd, it's a warm, rich but openly emotional grouping of songs. Ahead of this, Clash is able to premiere country-tinged new track 'Try To Make A Fire Burn Again'.

A naked, openly emotional track, Dawn Landes admits that it was inspired by a real event – and is to be taken literally. "I saw two women perform a flame twirling routine at a party one night and it was so beautiful I recorded it on my phone. I took it home and started writing 'Try to Make a Fire Burn Again' to accompany their performance. In the end, it was a much more personal narrative but I like to remember the beauty of those women and their flames every time I sing it."
