Premiere: Copout – ‘Timecode’

Taken from new EP 'Bardo'...

Copout is a difficult artist to pin down.

An American producer, his sound neatly sidesteps an label placed in its way. Releasing material on Soukouch Ethnik, Freshmore and Paradisiaca, the artist's daring, chopped up polyrhythmic slant is matched to a penchant for beautifully evocative melodies.

Partnering with British label Liminal Sound, new EP 'Bardo' drops on June 22nd. Ahead of this, Clash is able to premiere new cut 'Timecode' and it's a bit special…

The title is akin to some 80s thriller, and there's a slight resemblance in the track's pervasive machine funk to the sparse end of EBM. A proto-techno jacker re-tooled for the 21st century, the jittery drum pattern is the anchor for a swirling vortex of glitch-laden melody.
