Scotland's Fuzzkill Records imprint has already established a firm reputation as a hub for inventive, DIY flavoured arts.
The label's latest trick is to prise out fresh material from Catholic Action and Poor Things. The group will share an upcoming cassette, splicing together four tracks of deliciously fuzzed up fare.
Catholic Action are a Glasgow-based four-piece, led by Chris McCrory (who you might recall from Casual Sex). Opening track 'L.U.V.' is a delightfully off kilter glam stomper, like The Sweet re-imagined by four indie kids from Byres Road. 'Halfway Home' meanwhile, is an arch, jangle-pop number which taps into Glasgow's rich indie lineage.
Poor Things are a Scottish trio, who share their name with an Alasdair Gray novel. 'Sugar' opens with a titanic riff, 'Bandwagonesque' re-tooled for the austerity era. 'Friends' meanwhile is rooted in a cute circular acoustic sequence, before crunching Big Muff lead steers the song into more J Mascis-aligned territory.
