Calypso Rose is a genuine cultural icon.
A master of their disciplined yet playful form the calypso, her work has travelled the world, gracefully earning an international audience.
New album 'Far From Home' finds her audience coming back to her, with some famous fans helping to piece the record together.
More than 40 years after first being crowned calypso queen, the Caribbean artist has lost none of her bite – tackling everything from women's rights to the slave trade.
Clash is able to premiere a new remix, and it underlines the esteem Calypso Rose is held in. 'Leave Me Alone' features Manu Chao, while the remix stars Machel Montano.
Machel explains: "It is a real honour to join a living Calypso legend like Calypso Rose on this remix! The success Rose is having with her 'Far From Home' album is a testament to her timeless sound and the universal appeal of Trinidad and Tobago's native music. Finally, to round out this legendary collaboration with the addition of Manu Chao is a beautiful thing. I had the pleasure of hosting Manu in Trinidad during Carnival 2015, and I am glad to now join him on this song."
