Bright Light Bright Light grew up addicted to cinema and music.
The Welsh songwriter - real name Rod Thomas - has managed to indulge his musical passions, winning widespread acclaim in the process.
New EP 'Cinematography', though, allows him to do both. The artist has re-worked a number of classic pop songs, each chosen for their association with a well-known film.
Clash is able to premiere his version of 'Maniac', taken from the film Flashdance. Bright Light Bright Light explains:
“Thinking of dance movies, Flashdance is of the most celebrated and Iconic. This anthem - written based on horror movie 'Maniac' - combines my two favourite film genres: dance and horror. And is one of the catchiest songs from the 80s.”
Given a superb, colour-laden rendering, this new version is faithful to the original while containing that Bright Light Bright Light stamp. Tune in now.
