Perusing the standard textbooks of pop history, you could almost be forgiven for believing that Canada sat out the 60s.
However nothing could be further from the truth. Just like its southern neighbour the United States, garages across the varied provinces of Canada resonated with some gnarly proto-punk and primitive psychedelic exploration.
It's this lineage which Betrayers fit into. Together with fellow garage rock types The Lad Mags (an all-female acid punk meets soul explosion), the two will shuttle their snotty noise across the Atlantic for the WHITE LIGHT WESTERN PSYCHEDELIC REVUE Tour.
Ahead of this, Clash is able to premiere new track 'Tombstone Salesman'. Opening with a nagging, one line riff played over and over, this is smart-enough-to-play-dumb garage punk with a real attitude problem.
Blessed with an idiot savante chorus – 'YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAAAAHHHH' – and some of the dirtiest production this side of the Nuggets comp, you can tune in below.
'Tombstone Salesman' is set to form part of a split seven inch with The Lad Mags. Catch Betrayers at the following shows:
