Ballet School are gearing up for the release of new single 'Heartbeat Overdrive' – check out the extended mix on Clash.
Berlin is a city in near constant flux. A hub for young artists, musicians and ne'er do wells, it's a sprawling mesh of dreams, side projects and unbridled ambition.
The perfect place to find Ballet School, then. A trio of British ex-pats, the band were launched in the finals weeks of 2012 when the temperatures plunge and the sun barely shivers above the horizon.
It's an atmosphere which ripples through their music. Signing with Bella Union, new single 'Heartbeat Overdrive' is cold as ice, with Rosie Blair's delivery both emotionally engrossing and utterly clinical.
Out now, Clash are able to bring you the extended mix of 'Heartbeat Overdrive'. Reminiscent of those golden Depeche Mode 12 inch releases which helped inspire Detroit techno, it's spiralling synthetic technology has a human heart.
Engrossing, hypnotic and a total of some seven minutes long, it's an ambitious, provocative first statement.
