The world is a dark place right now, and – by rights – pop music should reflect that.
Hailing from Nottingham, April Towers are a synth duo who make downbeat, downcast pop music. Each melody feels perfectly constructed, with debut release 'Arcadia' perfectly blending glistening production and often bleak lyricism.
New single 'No Corruption' is out this week, and it's a fine return. Reminiscent of Pet Shop Boys or even prime Depeche Mode, April Towers display some admirable ambition.
Clash is able to premiere the flip, and it's an artful introduction to their charms. 'When The World Screamed' is musically upbeat, with the vocals displaying a rather more bleak side to the band.
