Drum 'n' bass tends to be a producer-led art-form, the work of solitary figures locked away in sonic laboratories.
Animal Music, though, are a group. A four piece, the band met at a warehouse party and began discussing ways that they could reinterpret those sounds in a live context.
Recently playing no less a venue than the Brixton Academy, it's an approach which seems to be working. Fresh from a two hour Radio 1 slot, Animal Music are now readying debut single 'We Stay Vacant' – and it could well blow up.
Out on May 18th, the crisp production is allied to their nascent live energy and that nagging, infectious riff. Rui Da Silva has stepped in on remix duties, steering Animal Music's breakbeat approach into something with a rather more electro-influenced taste.
