PREGOBLIN have shared their fascinating new song 'Anna (Flowers Won't Grow)' – tune in now.
The duo – Alex Sebley and Jessica Winter – have played a flurry of live shows throughout 2019, including some key festivals.
Debut single 'Combustion' was a unique entry point, a sign that the pair were heading in a different direction from their peers.
Digging deep on new track 'Anna (Flowers Won't Grow)', the pair worked alongside producer Macks Faulkron.
The song itself was prompted by the work of artist Anna McDowell – a friend of the band – whose sculptures are informed by depression and her experiences of mental health.
Alex explains: “It was first written in Paris while cat sitting after being dumped by my long term partner. Early versions included the line ‘I've lost everything this week, except Anna, Anna and her shapes’. The line ‘flowers won’t grow’ is about commitment, belief, perseverance and wanting to patch things up with the person I loved, knowing deep down that it was probably not to be.”
Beautifully etched, it's a powerful, highly unique piece of songwriting, one that is rich, nuanced, and delves deep into hidden depths.
Tune in now.
