Poster Paints Announce Debut Album

New single 'Falling Hard' is a real treat...

Scottish group Poster Paints have confirmed plans for their debut album.

The band made a mark last year, with Simon Lidell’s jangle-pop guitars matched by the dulcet vocals of Carla J Easton. Together, Poster Paints arrived with immaculate single ‘Number 1’ before focussing on fresh studio work.

Poster Paints’ self-titled debut album will be released on October 14th, a 10 tracker that pushes both artists to fresh levels. “The project started as an accident before the pandemic kicked off” says Carla, “Si had sent me an instrumental for a piece he had scored for a short film and asked if I could put some vocals on it. I completely misunderstood what he was asking me to do and wrote an entire song to the piece of music and emailed it back to him.

When harsh lockdowns kicked in, we both decided we would try and do some more songs like this – it was a way to keep collaborating when you couldn’t even go for a walk outside with someone from another household never mind be in a rehearsal room with someone.”

New single ‘Falling Hard’ is a glorious piece of indie pop, sitting in that wonderful Scottish lineage of The Pastels, Belle & Sebastian, Teenage Fanclub, Camera Obscura et al. There’s a vein of originality here, too, a freshness of approach epitomised by Carla’s emphatic but profoundly subtle vocal.
