Portishead Stop Touring

Band Concentrate On Studio Work

Reformed trip hop geniuses Portishead have announced that they will stop touring their recent album “Third” in favour of more studio work.

In an interview with BBC6Music guitarist Adrian Utley commented: “We’ve finished our touring for this album for this year because of things that we want to do – to be at home with our children, very young children.”

The band recently returned after a long hiatus with new album “Third” – already acclaimed as one of the year’s stand out works. Containing comeback single “Machine Gun”, the record was a strong and thoughtful update on that seminal Portishead sound.

Adrian Utley finished by saying “We are thinking a new album, that’s partly why we’re not touring enormously. In 1998 we toured for a year and a bit and it just crashed us. None of us wanted to see each other for a while after that.”

Portishead release their new single “The Rip” this week.
