Portishead Open Art Gallery

Geoff Barrow To Promote 'Outsider Art'

Portishead’s Geoff Barrow has opened an independent art gallery in his hometown of Bristol, it has been announced.

The new gallery will be called ‘Friend And Co.’ and will be run by long time Portishead musician Barrow. Inactive for almost a decade, Portishead returned earlier this year with their superb comeback album ‘Third’.

The new gallery aims to stock and sell ‘outsider art’ and currently includes a contribution from The Horrors frontman Faris Badwan. The singer’s contribution is named ‘Infant’ and is a picture of a rat. All items are available to buy online at Friendandco.bigcartel.com – ‘Infant’ is strictly limited to just 100 copies.

Writing on the shop’s blog Barrow said Friend & Co. was “the smallest gallery in the world…Ever!”.

Portishead recently published a blog stating that they were “doing other stuff for now, but we have been working on something new for your ears”.
