Berlin outfit Ponte Pilas share new single ‘San Ignacio’.
The band formed back in 2017, and quickly caught attention with their scuzzy sound and wild live shows. A melody-flecked indie-punk onslaught, their initial releases won acclaim and a rabid fanbase; punchy, strident, and effective, each song seemed to get under your skin.
In a dream come true Ponte Pilas’ debut album ‘Old Enough To Know Better’ has been produced alongside the revered Gordon Raphael, who of course produced The Strokes’ seminal first two albums.
Adding some spice into the mix, a string of singles have carved out a blazing rock ‘n’ roll path. New release ‘San Ignacio’ portrays Iggy Pop as the Patron Saint of Rock Debauchery, a rebel-stance the man himself holds to this day.
In sound and fury it’s an able homage to the man himself, with Ponte Pilas severing themselves from a flaccid mainstream and reaching out the underground.
Ponte Pilas says on ‘San Ignacio’:
“Paying credence to his lasting legacy on the world of popular music, this song casts Iggy in a biblical light. His transformative gospel, unleashed back in the 60s upon an unsuspecting musical public, changed the course of history. A Saint to believers in rock ‘n’ roll, all that remains is to say: “All hail, San Ignacio.”
Tune in now.
