Polaris Music Prize 2024: Long List Revealed

40 albums have made the cut...

The long list for this year’s Polaris Music Prize has been revealed.

The prize is essentially the Canadian counterpoint of our own Mercury Music Prize, honouring the best album from the past 12 months of contemporary music. Growing in stature, the 40-strong long list for this year’s prize was unveiled last night at Sonic Boom Record Shop in Toronto’s downtown west end.

In all, 40 albums have made the long list; the 10 finalist albums will be unveiled on July 11th, before the winner is announced at a special ceremony on September 17th at Massey Hall in Toronto.

Tickets to the Polaris Gala are on sale now via the Massey Hall website. It’s a tasty prize, too – the winning artist gains $50,000 courtesy of Slaight Family Foundation.
