Plastic People Closes For Two Months

To complete refurbishment

Iconic London clubnight Plastic People is set to close for two months in order to complete refurbishment.

Plastic People is one of London’s most respected nightclubs. Containing one of the country’s most pristine sound systems, it combines this with a booking policy which favours new sounds over tried and tested choices.

Arguably the home of dubstep, nights such as FWD have helped spawn and reflect dancefloor trends. A recent residency by Four Tet changed his production style, with new album ‘There Is Love In You’ containing a tribute to the club.

Loved by DJs and fans like, Plastic People was put under pressure by local authorities to close earlier this year.

Sparking a huge debate, the club was accused of producing excess noise. Worse, it was claimed that Plastic People was generating more crime in the surrounding area.

Quite why this club would produce more crime than any other remains unclear. Needless to say, fans were furious with a high profile Facebook campaign being launched to raise awareness of the move.

Now it seems that Plastic People will close its doors – but only for two months. The London nightspot is set to shut up shop for two months in order to complete some long running refurbishment plans.

Plastic People is set to end with a Deck Queenz party headlined by Cooly G. The club will re-open by the end of July moving into early August, with the no details available to the extent of the refurbishment.

Meanwhile, the club claim that they will not be moving, and that they are “in talks with the council and it seems to be going OK so far.”
