“You said I’m much too much,” Planningtorock sang recently. “Then baby, that just means you’re not enough.””
The artist known as Jam Rostron undergoes another evolution on new album 'Powerhouse', perhaps their most potent, incisive statement yet.
The Berlin-via-Bolton producer refuses to hold back, resulting in some kinetic, percussive, and overwhelmingly melodic music.
Out on November 9th – order LINK – it's teased by emphatic new track 'Beulah Loves Dancing'. An ode to Jam's sister and their music-fuelled youth, it's a joyous offering, rippling with barely contain rave energy.
Planningtorock explains: “It’s because of Beulah that I know anything about dance music. Her passionate love of house music back in the 90s literally shook our house for years and simultaneously gave her a safe space to live out the difficulties of living in a society ignorant to differently abled people. Beulah loves the song and after listening, laughing, she reminded me that I’d forgotten to mention the time when a picture fell off the wall and hit the TV.”
Clash have nabbed first play of the video for 'Beulah Loves Dancing' and we're delighted to share it before anyone else – check it out below, then find a playlist of Planningtorock's formative rave jams…

Format – '#1 Solid Session 1991'
Loooooooove this track so much its so emotional and melodic… still listen a lot to this especially when I'm driving!
Joyce Sims – '(You Are My) All And All'
Joyce Sims album 'Come Into My Life' is one of my all time favourites – she wrote produced and even mixed this album. The synths are fantastic and 90's production is just so choppy and funky. Think this album has been a big influence on me through the years.
Good Life – 'Inner City'
Remember when this track first came out and dancing to it with my sister Beulah… such a classic still very hot!
Farley Jackmaster Funk – 'Love Can't Turn Around'
Remember seeing Darryl Pandy perform this amazing track on TV and loving it so much and relating to how queer it was but not knowing exactly what that meant for me back then.
Mr Fingers – 'Can You Feel It'
I heard this track first time in a club called the 'Gallery' in Manchester and it felt so fresh and slick and beautiful.
