Plan B On Course For Number One

New album tops mid-week countdown

Rapper turned 60s soul man Plan B is on course to claim his first number one with new album ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks’.

Real name Ben Drew, Plan B broke through in 2007 with a blunt depiction of life in inner city Britain. Making sense in both Glasgow and London, his ferocious tales found a cult audience of disenfranchised youth.

Taking time off, the rapper began exploring his singing voice. Exploring new ways of making music Plan B returned with his new single ‘She Said’ recently – a 60s soul stomper.

Breaking into the Top Ten, the dapper star is now preparing to unleash his new album ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks’. Released on Monday (April 12th) the record has won warm reviews, with Plan B evolving yet not escaping from his initial blast of energy.

Winning new fans, word of mouth has spread on the star. According to mid-week figures ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks’ is sitting on top of the charts, outselling its nearest rivals.

If the figures were to continue, Plan B would claim the first number one of his career. Nearest rivals Scouting For Girls are also basking in success, having recently beaten the rapper turned soul man to top spot on the singles countdown.

Other new entries on the mid-week chart include MGMT. The Brooklyn space cadets have done a good job of confusing the public with their latest effort, recently apologising to fans for producing such left field material.

Confusing fans and critics, some people have alleged that ‘Congratulations’ is a wilful act of career destruction. Sitting third on the mid week charts, it is a bizarre and infuriating comeback from the electro rock Kingpins.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga’s grip of the charts looks set to slacken with her album ‘The Fame’ dropping to number four on the chart.
