piri & tommy have shared their new single ‘on & on’.
The pair started making music together in a student house bubble at the start of the pandemic, chopping up their club influences into intriguing alt-pop shapes. Viral success followed, with the duo’s golden touch illuminating singles like ‘words’ and ‘Soft Spot’.
New single ‘on & on’ began as a sketch-like demo, a few words and purring beat. Penned in the aftermath of a messy summer trip to Parklife, it moves from ravey DNB breaks to French house via plaintive alt-pop vocals.
piri comments: “This was one of those demos we just couldn’t stop listening to. tommy made the beat just after we’d been to Parklife in 2021, and it had such a fun and exciting energy to it, it seemed to perfectly fit those memories of festivals.”
Tommy adds: “actually took the drums from a jump up track I made, but thought it was probably best to replace the grotty Belgian bass so piri could sing over it. The goal was French House meets DnB, hardcore vibes… also shout-out Bou for the inspiration on the cowbell moment!”
