Phoebe Bridgers has shared her icy, baroque tinged arrangement of '7 O'Clock News / Silent Night'.
The American artist has developed a tradition of releasing festive music, toasting the coming of Advent with something new.
This year she has re-arranged Simon & Garfunkel's '7 O'Clock News / Silent Night', with The National's Matt Berninger in the role of the newscaster.
While the original was a look at the pained heart of Vietnam-era America, this new arrangement looks at Planned Parenthood.
Indeed, following Matt Berninger's example – he co-founded the 7-inches For Planned Parenthood project – all profits from the song will be donated to this cause.
A tender treatment of the festive favourite, Phoebe Bridgers invited Fiona Apple into the studio alongside her.
Says Phoebe Bridgers…
"Happy Holidays to everyone whose family has been literally or figuratively torn apart by Donald Trump. And to my racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, hypocritical family members, fuck you. Thanks Fiona, Matt, Simon, and Garfunkel."
