The retrial of legendary music producer Phil Spector is set to get underway soon, with jury selection beginning yesterday (October 20th).
The original trial last year found 10-2 in favor of convicting the producer, but this majority was not enough and the judge declared a mistrial. Legal proceedings are set to get under way again soon, with jury selection well under way.
Around 80 potential jurors were slimmed down to just 18 during proceedings at Los Angeles Superior Court. Judge Larry Paul Fidler was tasked with ensuring that all jurors were fair and impartial – Fidler presided over Spector’s original trial last year.
Phil Spector had long been regarded as something of an oddball within the music industry, but even those who knew him best were astonished when the producer was accused of murdering actress Lana Clarkson in 2003. Spector invented the famous ‘Wall Of Sound’ production technique, and went on to infamously produce both The Beatles and The Ramones.
Phil Spector’s murder trial is ongoing.
